Professor Greg Whyte OBE PhD DSc FBASES FACSM
In 2014 Greg was awarded an OBE for his services to Sport, Sport Science & Charity, and was voted as one of the Top 10 Science Communicators in the UK by the British Science Council. Greg is an Olympian in modern pentathlon, and is a European and World medalist. As a swimmer, Greg has successfully swim The English Channel, The Gibraltar Straits, The Bosphorus, The Thames, and many more iconic open water swims. In 2017, Greg was Oceanman age group World Champion and a multiple national masters champion. Greg has exited the water 1st at The UK Ironman Championships, and 2nd at The Norseman in addition to multiple top three swim exists across the range of triathlon distances.
Greg is a specialist in the field of sports and exercise science. Graduating from Brunel University, he furthered his studies with an MSc in Human Performance in the USA and completed his PhD at St. Georges Hospital Medical School, London. Greg is currently a Professor of Applied Sport and Exercise Science at Liverpool John Moore’s University and Director of Performance at the Centre for Health and Human Performance at 76 Harley Street, London. Greg's former roles include Director of Research for the British Olympic Association and Director of Science & Research for the English Institute of Sport.
Greg is the preeminent authority on Exercise Physiology and Sports and Exercise Performance in the UK. An internationally recognised expert in the field having published over 350 peer reviewed papers, 8 books and a leading media commentator. Greg has extensive professional experience assessing, treating and improving the performance of patients, sporting enthusiasts and athletes ranging from cancer sufferers to celebrities attempting their first mountain summit to Gold medal seeking Olympians.
Greg is well-known for his involvement in Comic Relief, since 2006 Greg has applied his sports science work to assist various celebrities in completing some of the toughest challenges. Greg has trained, motivated and successfully coached 32 Sport & Comic Relief Challenges including: the comedian David Walliams to swim across the English Channel the Gibraltar Straits and the length of the Thames; James Cracknell to run, cycle and swim to Africa; a team of 9 celebrities including Cheryl Cole, Chris Moyles and Gary Barlow to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro (repeated with a new team of celebs in 2019); Eddie Izzard to run a remarkable 43 marathons in 50 days; Christine Bleakley to waterski across the English Channel; Dermot O’Leary, Oly Murrs and others to cross the driest desert in Africa; John Bishop to complete 'Bishops Week of Hell’ that involved John cycle, row and run from Paris to London; and Davina McCall in her 'Beyond Breaking Point' 506 mile ultra-triathlon. Jo Brand on her 'Hell of a Walk' from Hull to Liverpool. Radio 1's Greg James on his 5 triathlons in 5 cities in 5 days and Sara Cox, The 2019 ‘Return to Kili’ Team, and Claudia Winkleman & Tess Daley on their 24 hour danceathons. As a result of his work, Greg has helped raise over £45million for charity.
CHRISSIE WELLINGTON O.B.E.
4 x Ironman World Champion
Chrissie Wellington OBE is a retired, British professional triathlete and four-time Ironman Triathlon World Champion.
She holds, or held, all three world and championship records relating to ironman triathlon races: firstly, the overall world record, secondly, the Ironman World Championship course record, and thirdly, the official world record for all Ironman-branded triathlon races over the full Ironman distance.
She won the World Championship in three consecutive years (2007–2009), but could not start the 2010 World Championship race because of illness, then regained the title in 2011. She is the first British athlete to hold the Ironman Triathlon World Championship, and was undefeated in all thirteen of her races over the ironman distance. She is the only triathlete, male or female, to have won the World Championship less than a year after turning professional, an achievement described by the British Triathlon Federation as "a remarkable feat, deemed to be a near impossible task for any athlete racing as a rookie at their first Ironman World Championships."
Since retiring in 2012 Chrissie has done countless endurance events, from cycling sportives, to marathons and ultra-marathons and even a cross country ski marathon or two!
Chrissie was awarded a first-class degree by the University of Birmingham (BsC Geography) and a Distinction from the University of Manchester (MA Econ Development Studies). Prior to becoming a professional athlete in 2007, she worked for the British Government’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) as a policy adviser on international development and also managed water and sanitation projects in Nepal.
Chrissie now devotes her life to development work, and specifically interventions to increase participation in physical activity. She now works full time as Global Head of Health and Wellbeing for parkrun, and was instrumental in developing the junior parkrun series of events across the UK.
Chrissie published her Sunday Times Best Selling autobiography, A Life Without Limits, in February 2012, and her second book, To the Finish Line: A World Champion Triathlete’s Guide to Your Perfect Race, in September 2017. Chrissie was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2010 Birthday Honours and Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2016 New Year Honours for services to sport and charity. She was also named the 2009 Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year and has been awarded Honorary Doctorates from the University of Birmingham and the University of Bristol.
Chrissie firmly believes that sport and physical activity can inspire, empower and change lives. She is determined to drive such change and promote grassroots participation in sport. She and her husband, former professional athlete Tom Lowe, have a daughter Esme.
I have been a full time running coach for over 10 years with a wide range of runners from absolute beginners to elite, over short distance to ultra running.
With a Bsc in Psychology, specialising in sports psychology, I qualified and worked as a personal trainer in London, before setting up my own company, Carter Coaching (and LondonRunningCoach) to focus specifically on my passion for running and area of expertise, particularly trail and long distance.
I have thoroughly loved over the years helping numerous athletes succeed at their varying goals and seeing the joy it brings them.
On a personal level, I have been a competitive runner since the age of 11, competing on the track at a regional level. My first marathon at 19 took me down the slippery path of long distance running into ultras and then trail/mountain running.
I have been honoured to represent my country at the 100km distance and compete against the best in the world exploring new trails and locations internationally. For a more extensive list of results, please refer to my website.
Through Luxury Sports Breaks, I am thrilled to share the beautiful trails of Croatia. Since discovering the amazing scenery of the Adriatic coast and in particular Brac while running there over the last couple of years, I now want to share it with others while offering a luxury escape at the same time.
I am licensed with UK Athletics and a qualified level 3 personal trainer.
I am a qualified first aider.

Triathlon and Running Coach
A former international track and field athlete, I started out as a sprinter before turning to the heptathlon, and more recently, triathlon. After many years training and racing, in 2016 I turned my attention to coaching, working with Adidas to set up the Adidas Runners London community. As an Adidas Runners Captain, I work both with our core community as well as our women’s community, planning and leading run sessions for large groups of runners of all levels and abilities. I am passionate about the life changing power of sport and dedicated to making it accessible to everyone, regardless of background or level.
Also a qualified Personal Trainer and BTF Level 2 Triathlon Coach, in 2017 I launched my own triathlon coaching business, Meraki, offering one-to-one triathlon and single sport coaching from beginner to advanced-level athletes. I also deliver group coaching sessions with triathlon clubs in southwest London, as well as pre-season training camps in Mallorca and Lanzarote.

At our retreats, Sam is your go to man for all things practical and logistical throughout your stay. He is on hand to help the smooth running of the villas but also out supporting our groups on their trail runs and adventures. A vital member of the team!
Although a late comer to running himself, Sam has been on the side lines of the sport for well over a decade, helping out at races, crewing and volunteering.
He has a depth of experience in these roles, understanding runners needs, as well as the necessary planning and logistics that crucially goes on in the background.
More recently, through a love of regular Parkruns, his own participation grew, now having completed his first trail half marathon with more already booked in the diary for the near future.
